SEMBE is a woman-led civil society organization based in Maroua, Far North Cameroon, and recognized under Cameroonian law (N° 061/2020/RDA/K22/SAAJP du 18 juin 2020). Founded by journalist and humanitarian worker Ms. Agha-Nwi Fru, SEMBE—meaning “strength” in the local Fulfulde language—works at the intersection of mental health, youth empowerment, gender equality, climate resilience, and community wellbeing.
Through its grassroots approach, strong community trust, and commitment to lasting change, SEMBE has become a key local actor in advancing resilience, protection, and empowerment in Cameroon. By combining local knowledge with innovative, rights-based programming, the organization continues to create opportunities for women, youth, and vulnerable groups to rebuild their lives, contribute to peace, and shape a better future for their communities.
